Cherokee NC is a bustling little town that sits on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It's undergone a dramatic transformation over the last 10 years. The end result of this transformation is that it is now more family-friendly than ever. The driving force for the transformation was the opening of a casino in the town. For a couple of years, the new casino dominated the town. Before the casino, Cherokee was becoming a little run down. With the money brought in from the casino the town started to upgrade it's cultural attractions and other attractions. Other businesses followed. Cherokee is now refreshed and renewed.
The casino is still there, but over time it has built it's own hotels. Cherokee NC is now a town with a casino, but not a casino town.
Other businesses and attractions have upgraded and are separate from casino.
